Wise Traditions Conference

Hey buckaroos. Just a reminder that I will be one of the featured speakers at this year’s Wise Traditions Conference – the annual conference of the Weston A. Price Foundation. I have been asked to speak about metabolism, and I will also have a booth set up where you can do everything from quiz me on 80’s movie lines (last night I was told to “watch out for potholes” and knew that one right away) to test your whiz.

Anyway, several of you are coming and I’m really psyched to meet you. If you do come to the conference and I find out that you didn’t come up to me and harass me in some way you’re in BIG trouble. Hope to see you nerds there.

  1. I was excited to see that you're speaking… will see you there!!

  2. I can't wait to meet you! xoxo

  3. I want my two dollars!

    Too easy, I know.

I got to say that at the farmer's market this week. She didn't have change, so I got to go back later for my two dollars. Unfortunately she didn't get why I was so amused…

  4. This isn't from the 80's but….

"You can't park your car here!"

  5. Matt, very OT, but I recently got sucked into research into the health effects of smoking and whether it really is as harmful as popularly believed, this led me to stumble upon a case study of identical twins where one had 52 pack years and the other a never smoker, with nice pictures.

Is it just me, or does the smoker look way healthier and more alert in these photos, as in the never-smoker has all the facial signs of hypothyroidism?

  6. "The dogs. Watch out for the dogs."

Can't meet you in person, so I'm submitting mine now :)

  7. 'Don't disturb my friend. He's dead tired'

    Yeah, boyee!

  8. "Life is pain, Highness. Anyone who says differently is selling something."

    Truer words were never spoken.

    "You call that a knife?"

What young girl wouldn't fall in love?

  9. "Nobody puts Baby in a corner!"

Sounds like the conference will be a blast…

  10. So, Matt, are you going to go through all the comments and list the movie titles? Here's one that may be too early 80's for you, but what the heck, it's still one of my favorties :)

Sometimes you just gotta say, "What the f***, and make your move."

  11. "Fra-gee-lay. That must be Italian."

Obviously I was a kid in the 80's.

I hope Matt tries to name them all. I have to admit SJ's dogs have me stumped.

  12. Ajax: I'll shove that bat up your ass and turn you into a popsicle.

    Name that almost 80's movie.
There is no prize, only glory.
See yo ass in Dall ass my friend.

  13. I WAS going to the WAPF Conference…all signed up, but cancelled when I really got into this RBTI stuff. So much of it is "180" from WAPF thinking and it really has taken the fun out of going. I am a chapter leader and don't know quite what I am going to do about that. This RBRI diet does seem to be working for me…more than WAP or GAPS or Bee Wilder's diet. I am feeling good, slowly but surely. If the WAPF conference would have been close I would have still gone, but it was going to be quite the trek. So the choice was buy the testing equipment and give this RBTI a real go or go to a conference that probably wouldn't interest me much except watching Matt trying to explain at least something about RBTI to what could be a very hostile crowd.

I'm too young to quote movies from the 80's but I thought you would enjoy this clip.

Won't be at the Wise Traditions either =(. Look forward to hearing how it all goes.

  15. Looking forward to participating vicariously from the land of the Eskimo–and getting an education in the old movies!

  16. Hellz yea! I know that my goal is more than a thought. I'll be there! ;)

..well its not a movie, or 80's but whutevs…

  17. seriously guys, no more rhymes now- I mean it (such a classic, hawaiigurl, i couldn't resist)!! and im open to urine analysis- but don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining!

  18. Heeeeeeeebadabadabadabadasah-wingbada…..

  19. Warriors ( wAPricers) come out and plaaayuyyyy

  20. "No more yankee my wankee, Dong need food.

  21. for those who doubt either your vast knowledge OR your commitment to 80's movies:

back off, man, i'm a SCIENTIST!

  22. Matt,

Be sure to bust open a can of 245 Trioxin – that'll get the party started.

  23. Hey Matt,
I asked this previously and you said something along the lines of eat more maple syrup in the morning and starch in the evening, but I'm going to ask if you have any more specific ideas. I've been hovering around 97.5 to 97.8 in the mornings, sometimes as low as 97.2. It's been almost a month since I've read 98.0 on the thermometer. Yet, when I started RBTI, there were three or four such days in the first month, and temps seemed to be resting somewhat higher. Appetite has seemed a bit lower too. Am I missing something?

  24. Debbie mentioned something about Dallas. I think that's Debbie Does Dallas (1978).

Let's see, we got Ferris Beuller in there. Dirty Dancing. Better Off Dead. Christmas Story. Croc Dundee. Commando.

I definitely need to brush up on some of the others. Was that 16 Candles in there as well somewhere?

Oh yeah, Ghostbusters. Of course. Was thinking of wearing a Ghostbusters t-shirt to speak actually.

Got stumped on a few though. Great work. Here are more challenging ones for you guys…

    "Me-Ted. Me-Ted. Meathead."

"Don't you know that eating that stuff can give you very large breasts? Oh, my God! I'm too late!"

"I can't lie to you Dean Martin… Yes it is!"

Very interesting. And very off topic

    Aaron F -

I think the appetite suppression is probably a little bit of the problem here for you. You are a super lean dude to begin with. Someone overweight might have no problems there, but I would continue to eat more and not be shy about food in the evening either. I think the bigger meals in the evening create bigger hunger the following day. And I bet that's the only glitch there.

  25. "Hillary – it means she whose bosoms defy gravity."

"If I didn't have puke breath, I'd kiss you right now."

  26. Matt,

"245 Trioxin" = government zombie gas in "Return Of The Living Dead (1985)"

    If you haven't seen this comedy/horror classic don't tell me – I couldn't take it ;-)

  27. I have seen it. But never got too into horror movies. Not even the freddy and jason 80's classics. Did love me some critters and gremlins though.
