“A 43-year-old woman was asked to leave a community pool because staff deemed her string bikini inappropriate and told her to cover up, it emerged today. Madelyn Sheaffer, from Independence, Missouri, has accused employees at the Adventure Oasis Water Park of discriminating against her because of her fuller figure.”

Prior to this bikini wearing scandal, she had just lost 100 lbs!!!July 8, 2013 at 7:39 pm #7804Matt Stone
KeymasterI wonder what really prompted them to kick her out of the pool. Could they be such prudes? Maybe. This woman looks great. In my opinion somebody got jealous. I am quite serious about that.

ParticipantMaybe they kicked her out, because it was actually a family water park not Hustler’s water park. Hey from the neck down she isn’t bad, but geez from the neck up!!!

ParticipantI think she looks great though…

ParticipantDo you think children that are 2 to 10 years old need to be looking at someone that dresses like that at a family swim park? Also for all we know, she could have been going around to all the dads asking them “how does my new bathing suit look.” Just too get all the eyes on her. After all she did say she wanted to flaunt her body.

ModeratorKelly, she is wearing a bikini. Why would this be a problem for 2-10 year olds? We don’t know if she was going round asking all the Dads how she looks in the swim suit, but even if she was, so what?
When I lived in France, at just about any pool or beach, a lot of women would be wearing bikini bottoms but be topless. So what?! It was beautiful.

ParticipantI agree with you ThomasSeay. I don’t think most 2-10 year olds view bodies in that sexual way. At least i know my 6 year old doesn’t. She thinks bodies are beautiful and my bigger breasts especially (ha, sorry TMI). I would have no problem with her seeing women at a topless beach or even a nude beach. Anyway, I would have no problem with this woman at my local pool or water park but I know that there are people out there that have different views that mine.

Participant@Kelly, seriously who cares what she wants to do with her body? It’s not like she was showing off anything. She has large breasts and they were covered up. What is your problem with showing some skin? And that rude comment about her face, totally uncalled for. I see that your photo is of someone else who I’m sure in your eyes, is the perfect woman. Well I know for damn sure you don’t look like that, otherwise you would have posted a photo of yourself. Are we projecting your insecurities onto this innocent lady? I want to call you a judgmental bitch, but then that makes me one too, so I am at a loss for words on what to call you. Maybe an idiot? An ignorant self-righteous idiot? What the hell are you doing on this website anyway? You don’t belong here, not with your selfish immature comments. Go grow up and come back when you are mature enough to handle this website.

ParticipantSaisrice, you have no problem having her see a woman topless or even nude, but what about a guy? Would it matter if a naked man just laid out his jewels right in front of you and your family? The difference between the two, is that you would have brought your daughter into that environment, but not at a family pool.
Granted she wasn’t topless. I have been to pools where they have asked teenagers to cover up, and they didn’t make a scene. They covered up, by the means of a towel, shorts, or there parents tee-shirts. I have seen this in three different states.
She does have every right to wear a bikini, however why did she choose one that didn’t cover her up better?

ParticipantKelly, I say that I have no problem with my daughter seeing a woman or man nude if it was appropriate like at a nude or topless beach. I don’t have any issue with her seeing nude bodies as long as the people that are nude or scantily clad are sane people that are just happy with their bodies and not trying to show off their bodies and hit on my child or anything like that. That said, I’ve never been to a nude or topless beach with my daughter and have no plans to in the near future (not against them just not in my plans). I honestly never thought about this topic until this post so I’m not sure how I’d feel if there was a man with his penis showing at a water park. If it was unintentional than I would just go to another park of the water park and hope that he straightens himself out. If he seems like a nice approachable guy, maybe I’d have my husband say something nice so he wouldn’t be embarrassed. If I was at a water park and someone asked me to cover up I would. I might feel a little embarrassed but I wouldn’t make a scene and then I’d make sure to choose a more appropriate suit the next time.
Now that I’m married with a child I don’t care so much about people showing off their bodies but I imagine that if I was single and younger and there with my boyfriend and there was a really hot looking woman in a revealing suit I might feel jealous and righteous and want her to cover up because I’d be stressed that she looked better than me. Oh how I’m happy I’m not feeling that way anymore. Sorry for the tangent…
