Will the 6-month brace correct the crooked teeth properly?

Hello! My front incisors are crooked. All my teeth are straight, except this two. While speaking to others, I feel uncomfortable because of this crooked teeth. Last day, I went to consult my dentist and he told me to wear braces for 1.5 years. I can’t even think of that. Only my two teeth are crooked, then why should I wear a brace for that much of time? Anyway, I decided not to wear the braces but my decision got a slight change when I met one of my old friends. She also had misaligned teeth but now it looks perfect. I got surprised when I saw her. Before that, I want to know whether it will take more than 6-months? Will it correct the crooked teeth properly? Please share your opinions..
