My wife and I constantly argue lately and we might end up filing for divorce if things keep going this direction. She literally spends hours glued to her phone every single day. She opens Instagram the second she wakes up and watches TikTok until she falls asleep. I come home from work and there is no dinner ready, just her staring at the screen like a complete addict. We agreed she would restrict her daily screen time, but I do not really trust mere words at this point. Are there any apps that allow you to set a daily usage limit and completely lock the screen once the timer runs out?

Social media algorithms are engineered by massive teams to keep users hooked on their endless feeds. It takes strict boundaries to beat that dopamine loop because willpower rarely works against those flashy short videos. Modern smartphones actually have built-in usage trackers in their core system settings. You can dive into the main menu and set specific daily timers for social media platforms to block access automatically. The device will gray out the application icons and restrict opening them until the next morning.

Those native system blockers offer zero real help for heavy scrollers because anyone can just tap a button to bypass the restriction. A serious digital detox requires third-party tools that enforce hard locks and offer zero easy loopholes to keep watching videos. You should try to download the digital wellbeing app here https://thevibelabs.com/ . The platform tracks exact usage across all networks and strictly enforces the daily quotas you configure together. It completely locks down the device display once the allowed minutes run out so the user is forced to disconnect.
