I’m married to a touring musician. We have a seventeen-year-old daughter and a three-year-old toddler Sam. My daughter – Diana – has difficulty articulating words in the beginning to the point that I’m the only one who can understand her requirements. In school she struggled a lot with her learning disability. I got some report from her school that she did well on classroom tasks but she had a hard time making friends.
Diana was diagnosed with autism when she was 8. By 14, the introverted girl took sessions for depression. She struggled on into her teenage with feelings of anxiousness and depression. Her classmates noticed that she often cried and rarely spoke in class. Recently, I came to know that ABA therapy techniques are the most widely used procedures for treating autism in children. Do you think ABA therapy will be effective in helping my daughter to learn new skills? Is that a naturalistic approach? Please let me know!
