I feel like 6-7 dl is usually best for me, a litre if it’s hot outside. If I go over I get cold, start having muscle spasms, feet swell etc. But I also feel like I’m not peeing enough, I go to the toilet maybe three or four times a day but not a lot of pee comes out. I have to say that my metabolism is quite low right now, I have been undereating for the past month so maybe when it speeds up I’ll be peeing more too?

I’m having problems finding a balance, too. When I hold liquids down to aim for less frequent urination I get an absolutely raging thirst. Feels like when trying to restrict calories or carbs – I crave/binge liquids!

Natty, could it be that you’re really doing just fine and are just noticing a difference? Are you used to drinking (and therefore peeing) more?

Oh yes, it’s so hard to find a balance! I sometimes want to binge on liquids too but not as much as I did when I had just started recovery (been doing this for a year now but somehow always end up undereating which is probably keeping me from making any physical progress other than weight gain). One thing that’s helped me with not drinking too much is using a straw and taking sips whenever I’m craving it, before I get thirsty. I mostly drink soda, orange juice is my favorite but I feel like it’s too cooling for me.

I don’t know GeeMa, something feels a bit off. I had a UTI two weeks ago, well the doctor wasn’t sure what it was but (TMI) I had blood in my pee and was feverish so he gave me antibiotics. I wonder if it was caused by not drinking enough? I’d never had it before. But honestly I’d rather drink too little than too much, the muscle spasms, palpitations and anxiety are so bad when I overhydrate. But yeah I used to drink a lot and pee so much! Maybe my body just needs time to adjust to everything.

I drink a lot of soft drinks but only pee golden once a day in accordance to the description in eat for heat, the volume is good. I have noticed that I experience dry skin and other symptoms and if I was to urinate frequently in light pale yellowish colour I don’t experience this symptoms and I also pee 3+ times. So I’m wondering whether allowing my body to pee frequently in light yellow colour is ok and as I recover I should gradually progress to a darker urine colour. So to others I ask whether you progressed to the golden urine colour as you recovered or did you aim from day 1 to get the golden urine and infrequency in urination.

@Natty If you like OJ but find it too cooling it’s probably bc it’s high potassium, you can try adding some salt to it. Or try to slowly increase more potassiumrich food,so your body will get used to potassium as main warming source instead of sodium(in large amounts)?

Dutchie, I’ve tried adding salt to OJ but I feel like it ruins the taste a bit :p although I might have put a little too much, I might try it again. Thanks for the tip!
