Just wondering what the 180 crowd thinks about exercising after a cold? For the last 5 days I’ve been doing slow short walks to keep from being too antsy. My questions are: When is it advisable to do some strength training again? And when is it wise, metabolically speaking, to get back on my bike for bike-commuting? When you’re still draining some snot but “feel” normal — i.e., no pain, fogginess, fatigue? Or better to wait a whole 2 weeks or more for every last bit of congestion to drain out?
In the past, I’ve been way too “Type A” go-go-go/taskmaster about those things, mistaking adrenaline for invincibility, but now I want to, you know, work smarter not harder yada yada, and hold onto my temp gains.
(Haven’t bothered to take my temp much during the cold, because my congestion was so bad I couldn’t breathe through my nose and kept nearly dropping the thermometer out of my mouth! And I wasn’t going to switch to butt-measuring, for pete’s sake.)
Anyway, I know there’s probably lots of mainstream fitness articles about this, but I was interested in hearing any 180-themed advice on the subject!
