    Hi All,

Hope you don’t mind me resurrecting a dead topic.

First of all, Jdubs glad to hear you didn’t have any new problems. How are you doing now?

I’m up at 4 am after an “adrenergic surge” coupled with some mild heartburn. I’ve had heartburn on and off for the past 6 years, but otherwise my digestion is okay. I’ve noticed in the last year or so my throat will kind of feel full and sometimes a light choking/pressure sensation. I thought it might be post-nasal drip, but the ENT I saw ruled out post-nasal drip but said there was some throat inflammation and suggested I take Pepcid Complete.

Being a 180 reader, that’s the last thing I want to do. I guess my question is two fold:

    1) What are some things I can do to deal with the symptoms of heartburn when I do wake up in the middle of the night.
    2) Where to start looking for triggers?

    Thank you,

    Brad

Katsuo, what are you feeling in the middle of the night? A burn or a choking feeling?

    Hi BauerPower,

Thanks for the reply. Sorry fit the late response.

It’s usually a burning sensation in the upper chest area. Though just this morning I woke up after about 4 hours of sleep coughing with a feeling of acid in my upper throat as if I was going to vomit the acid. There was no burning feeling in my chest however.

Hmmm I would try Gaviscon for quick relief. It forms a type of foam barrier. The UK version is better. Also, a food diary helps. What did you have for dinner? Does a certain food or meal cause you to wake up with these symptoms?

    Hi BauerPower,

Thanks again for the reply and the recommendation fur Gaviscon. I did some research and you are right. The UK version is better. But I did find a product from Rx Vitamins called Acid Block which has similar ingredients to the UK version. (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000PM1NMW?pc_redir=1395879829&robot_redir=1)

Once I get home I’ll start a food diary. I’ve been on vacation and sleeping and eating patterns have been a mess so I’ve had at least a little heartburn discomfort just about everyday.
