    Hello all,

I just got finished reading Eat for Heat and I am shaking because I am so excited to have finally made a possible connection btwn my amenorrhea and sx of hyponatremia. I have been suffering from amenorrhea for the past 20 mos after going off the pill, following a 6 month stint w Bikram yoga 3-4 times a week. While practicing Bikram I was probably drinking close to a gallon of water a day (which was encouraged by the instructors). I was excessively thirsty ALL THE TIME which caused me to drink even more water. I became aware that this thirst was excessive after stopping the Bikram and still experiencing the dry mouth. This is around the time when I noticed my periods had stopped.
An RD suggested that I cut back on the water and increase my salt intake, which I have done, but I still suffer from the excessive thirst so it makes it very difficult to limit my fluid intake. I have tried gatorade and other sports drinks but that only helps temporarily. I have long suspected that there was some sort of link between the excessive thirst and the amenorrhea but none of the FIVE docs I’ve seen have been able to make heads or tails of my symptoms. Could I have finally solved this mystery? If so, My question now is, what do I do? Do I further limit my fluid intake in spite of my extreme dry mouth? Do I up my salt intake further? Any suggestions (Matt if you’re out there!) would be very appreciated.

    Thanks so much in advance!
