I was looking through the newsletters and watched the interview with Jon Gabriel. I bought his book and am confused why he is on Matt’s site. Jon suggests avoiding sugars of all kinds and grains, potatoes etc. He basically recommends eating what I have been for a long time before coming to the Eat for heat school of thought. Wheatgrass juice, Fruits, veggies, protein, good fats, to drink lots of water. That’s what caused me to be thin but also cold and my menstruation stopped among other problems. I understand that he is different than standard diets in a few regards but I was disappointed with his book.

With Jon Gabriel, I take all the rest, and leave his actual diet recommendations, lol or take them with a grain of salt. ;) I haven’t read or heard Matt talk about him directly, and was surprised that Matt shared the video, but Jon did a ton of research when he tried all sorts of diets and couldn’t loose weight. He’s got a strong science background, but he also sees the benefits of meditation and visualization and the minimal but intense workouts. He has great stories about the cat and being chased by a dog.

Are you seeing results after applying some of Gabriel’s methods?

My guess is that the video was added more for the weight set point/stress/trauma/anti-diet components.

That makes sense. I guess Matt takes it home, while Jon plays it safe. It’s not easy telling people that they will gain 30 lbs and keep in on for a year before they will gradually start losing lol

I didn’t have any great weight loss with Jon Gabriel’s methods, but I see what he is saying, and he added to my understanding. It was a big relief just to hear someone say “there is a reason your body wants to be fat.” It’s not that I’m lazy, etc. I let that take off some pressure. I didn’t keep up with the visualizations, because, I can now see, there was a part of me that didn’t feel right just asking for the body shape I thought I wanted. I’m now really focused on health, and my visualizations are of this fire in me that is getting hotter and hotter and all my little cells joyfully working, with all the resources they need to do their jobs for me! (really!!!) :) And, today I came here to share some success with Matt’s methods! High temperatures!!! I may never wear my winter clothes again. Now, if I could just get my DH to sleep with the window open. :) I feel really hopeful about being really healthy.
