Everyone keeps telling me to put my portfolio on LinkedIn, talk about my skills, share my projects, all so I can find better employers than the ones I’m stuck with now. But what’s the point of writing all that stuff when I have no followers and nobody’s actually seeing or reading any of it? How do you even get out of this situation where you’re posting into the void?
LinkedIn has this chicken and egg problem that drives people crazy. You need visibility to get connections, but you need connections to get visibility. Posting consistently helps over time, but when you’re starting from zero it feels like shouting in an empty room. Some folks join those engagement pods where people agree to like and comment on each other’s stuff, but that’s mostly fake interaction that doesn’t lead anywhere real. Others spam connection requests to anyone remotely in their field, which just makes you look desperate and gets ignored half the time anyway.
If I connect this to something like Veck IO, I see a similar pattern—at first, you’re just one player in a big space, and it can feel like you don’t matter. But as you keep showing up, interacting, and positioning yourself, you gradually become visible and relevant to others. The same principle applies here.
