ParticipantAnyone who tells you any differently is a liar. There is something fundamentally wrong in the US and other countries.
Did you know that lab animals have also gotten fatter in the last 50 years? Pets as well?
Something bad is happening. And we’re looking in the wrong place!
Lab Animals and Pets Face Obesity
A statistical analysis of more than 20,000 animals suggests that the obesity epidemic is spreading to family pets, wild animals living in close proximity to humans, and animals housed in research centers–perhaps indicating that environmental factors beyond diet and exercise are at least partly to blame for expanding waistlines.
…
Obviously, if animals are getting heavier along with us, it can’t just be that they’re eating more Snickers bars and driving to work most days. On the contrary, the trend suggests some widely shared cause, beyond the control of individuals, which is contributing to obesity across many species.

ModeratorNot to be a jerk, but you will almost always lose weight through dieting. At first. Then you will gain it back, of course, and probably more. But there is short-term loss.
I agree with you that pets are experiencing obesity, though. And actually all of the things listed above eat some similar things to humans. If you look at what pets get in their food, it’s full of GMOs and PUFAs usually. And pesticides, hormones, etc. Wild animals living near humans often eat human food, too (like racoons going through garbage, etc.). Lab animals eat food contaminated with the same pesticides and stuff, too.

ParticipantWay to be overly literal. :) OCD?
I used to be the same way.
TELL ME WHAT TO EAT. TELL ME WHAT TO DO. PLEASE! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!
LOL
I think the jury is out on what the cause is. We don’t have an official explanation.
Some people think it’s artificial light.
Some people think it’s pesticides.
Some people think it’s electro magnetic fields.
Some people think it’s radio waves.
Etc. etc. etc.
Could be all of the above.

ParticipantWe may never know. Hopefully once us humans wipe each other out with our wars and misused technology the animals can go back to being slim. :)

ParticipantWhether it is a Weight Loss or a Weight Gain it is all depended on a Diet. It’s like the thing is in the heads of people that dieting does nothing.
