Low Platelets and bruising

Hi,

My mother and sister have issues with low platelets as did my grandmother. Since so many have them doctors seem to say it is genetic. I have never thought it was and I have found links that make it seem like it is not. I did also read a post by Matt along those lines as well. Recently a new doctor told my mother that it wasn’t genetic either and to find a doctor that would help her with it. My question is my sister has been trying to get a lot of sun, food, etc and she still shows signs such as bruising easily and gets dark circles around her eyes. At one point she thought eating liver would help and so ate that every week. I see her eat throughout the day she does not have a problem with food at all. Does anyone else have any suggestions? It be greatly appreciated.
