InactiveI’ve just started trying to raise my metabolic rate with some of the things I’ve learned reading 180 Degree Health, but my sleep has suffered because a few symptoms has kept me awake or woken me up.
I’ve been eating increased calories, mostly carbs for about a week, and since I started I’ve been kept awake by frequent urination, and when I do finally fall asleep, I’ll wake up in the middle of the night sweating mildly with my heart beating, and of course have to pee.
This has only begun since I started the HED/RRARF.
The pee is usually clear and there is a lot (even though I’ve reduced water intake); it’s not just the urge to pee.For context, I’m 25 male, 6’2″-6’3″, and I’ve been 160lbs since I was a teenager. I began unintentionally restricting calories trying to clear facial and body acne, avoiding IgG/IgA food sensitivities, and just being afraid to eat anything that may break me out (which, depending on who you talk to, could be anything and everything). I still have acne, and my digestion is usually fine, and has been great the past week. I don’t know if the food sensitivities are real or not…
My diet before upping my calories/carbs was a lot of meat – pork, beef, chicken, turkey, lamb, etc. and usually carrots or sweet potatoes. And for the past couple or years I feel like I just don’t eat enough, maybe 1500 cal a day, when I should have double.
Hopefully someone out there knows something that will help.

ParticipantI can’t necessarily help, but I wanted to encourage you by saying that I’m about a week into RRARF and I’m experiencing the very same issues. Before RRARF, I would urinate during the night occasionally, but my sleep was generally quite deep and sound; the past few days, however, I’ve been waking up, needing to urinate, and feeling sweaty with my heart pounding. AND will lie awake for hours. I’ve even tried eating a salt/sugar mixture in hopes of calming my adrenal function. Hopefully someone here will have some advice for you/us, but just so you know, you’re not the only one. :)

InactiveJust to update – It seems as though the sweating/rapid heartbeat and frequent urination have died down. The last few days I haven’t experienced it, thankfully. The frequent urination has tapered off and died down, while the sweat/heart rate just stopped altogether.
I think the main problem was a drop in blood sugar in the middle of the night. I notice the rapid heartrate when I need to eat something, which never happened during hunger before, but with so much starch, I guess it’s different until my body fully adjusts.
