Hi y’all. I’m a 19 year old male. Been doing diet recovery for a little over two months now.

For as long as I can remember I have never wanted to go to sleep at night. My mother told me that I used to stay up well into the night even as a baby. In elementary, middle, and high school it was miserable most days. I think that is why I never got much exercise as a child- I was just so tired. College has been a bit better. Most jobs have been terrible.

Anyways, should I embrace the night owl in me? I never seem to get tired until 2 or 3 am no matter how early I woke up that day. And waking up before 10 or 11am is always a major chore no matter my bedtime the night before. Or is this tendency an indicator that my metabolism is low or some other health issue is taking place?

Any other night owls on here?

I guess I’m a bit an owl like you… Try to wake up a half hour before usually, and continue to go to sleep only when you have really the need to sleep. Other ideas could be to not take caffeine after 2 pm, eating three hours before sleep (if you don’t have some night crash, like cold feet or low temps), quitting the tv or pc one hour before bed, avoid naps during the day, trying to sleep in a dark room, sleeping in a room not too hot. You can try to read something of deepak chopra, like many people here advised me, or something of paul mckenna from whom I took several advices I wrote above. Good luck! :-)
