i am currently trying to recover from an ED, still underweight. My question is why if I end up having some carb, sugar snacks at night do I wake up in a full on sweat from head to toe. Is this my metabolism kicking in. Does this burn more calories? I’ve heard that in anorexics who refers this can make it harder to restore weight. Is this true? Thanks for your help.

I had these pretty severely in my early stages of recovery. Some attribute it to major hormonal fluctuations and some say it is a heavy boost in metabolism. I figure it is a bit of both. It was especially severe for me when I had a large meal… I would wake up soaked in sweat. I am not sure if this hinders weight gain, but I will say that it takes more food than you probably think to make repair and restore. Good luck!
