hi everyone!:D i’am a piano student and lately (i have to practice a lot for my exams minimum 5 hours a day) I’ve noticed a lot of signs of low metabolic rate…so how i can reduce the stress and practice more efficently? do you have any suggestions or experience with too much musical study/practice?

At least on piano, you can snack during rests… my sax doesn’t take kindly to eating while playing. :)

Maybe get some cheese and crackers, and when you start to feel cold (or notice other symptoms), eat a bit? (might leave out the crackers if you don’t want crumbs on the keys)

Maybe take a 10 minute break to just breathe and look out the window?

Some meditation to relax might help – maybe some listening exercises with your eyes closed? Just ‘feel’ the music instead of dissecting the theory of it?

That might help you reset your fingers and let them soak in the practice, too… so your next run through is “fresh”?

What type of music are you playing? (I do swing/jazz on sax – but just as an amateur)

thanks for the advices :) I think I need to reduce the study time for a few days … mainly classical music but after my practice session i play almost “everything” xD Do you think that playing a lot it’s a big stressor?

Playing a lot isn’t a stressor for me – but I do it for fun and am not taking any classes… so, I’d say it depends on how you approach it.
