MemberSo I’m a month shy of 29 and for the past year and a half I swear to jesus I have been going through a second puberty of sorts. My sex drive is different and activated by different things than it used to, my breasts have gotten big and smushy and the kind that actually create cleavage and bounce- unlike the firm, small teenage style puppies I had been hauling around for years before…I don’t really like kids and never thought I’d think of having them but my uterus is telling me otherwise…I feel like nesting, my hips are bigger, I’ve got stretch marks…
Ladies. I don’t mind it, I think it’s pretty neat actually. But is this something we all go through and aren’t expecting? The clothing in the juniors section looks like crappy kids clothes to me, I gotta squeeze this extra voluptuous shape into some dresses in the Misses department. And I want to bake more. Anyone else with me?

ParticipantI read this and immediately went “Thank god! There’s still hope for my breasts!” I can’t wait to be 29.

ModeratorI seem to want kids more with age. Still not quite ready, but sometimes it’s like OMG, especially when thinking about the physical aspect of pregnancy and birth. I also didn’t want them when I was younger, but my want coincided more with being with my husband than age, I think.
I think my boobs have gotten bigger pretty recently, actually, but not a ton.
I haven’t been able to comfortably wear Jr. section clothes for years! I have quite an ass and hips, but small waist. Total hourglass, so hard to find clothes.

ParticipantI’m 28 and I still don’t know if I want kids. My uterus hasn’t given me any messages in that regard either. I’m leaning towards not having them. Luckily my husband is on the same page, although if he were adamant about having them, I would.
My breasts have also gotten bigger recently, but it’s probably due to the fact that I’ve been gaining weight overall from re-feeding. It is weird (in a good way) to have breasts that bounce, I’ve never worried about wearing a sports bra to the gym, but now I have to.
I guess I don’t actually have any answers to your questions, Julia. Ha!

MemberWell,I’ve noticed a lot of women in real and virtual life who concur with me, so I know it happens. Just wonder who and how it happens to.

ParticipantMaybe it’ll hit me in a couple more years then. For now, the thought of having kids terrifies me.

ModeratorA few years ago, a good friend and the husband of my permaculture teacher told me about the adult ‘growth spurt’ he had in his late twenties. I was around 23 or 24 at the time, and he told me he was a twig in middle and high school, then had about the same build as me, ~5’10, 160lbs when he was 22 or 24, and then late twenties really filled out to over 200lbs.
I registered that and occasionally thought of it, but mostly forgot it. Well, sure enough, I’m that age now, and filled out a good bit too. This was partly due to a conscious decision to put on size, but maybe it was spurred by some second puberty type drive.
Anyway, not sure if there are common and observable patterns here, or if it’s the same for men and women, but there are at least some anecdotal reports of it.
