Hi all, any thoughts about giving salt to an eight month old with presenting low metabolic symptoms: cold clammy hands and, feet, constipation, dietary intolerances, candida rash etc. I’ve been feeding him WAPF style anyway, and they recommend a pinch of salt in food, but I’ve notice how much more he enjoys his dinner when it contains some salty things like olives, pesto etc. Im not talking about giving him really salty food or anything but should I be guides by his, tastes or be,a,bit more cautious about it ?

I have been feeding my son who is now 16 months old with grated cheese, he loves it. I just simply grate it on a large grater and let him help himself.

There is some concern about kidney health when giving kids too much salt. As long as it’s not a ridiculous amount I’m sure it’s fine – probably preferable. I think you will notice greater food consumption, warmer skin, warmer extremities, better sleep, better behavior, and more with salting the food better.
