If you have a limited budget for music promo, where would you put the money first? I’m releasing a single soon and want to test promotion without spending heavily before knowing what works.

With a small budget, I’d keep the first campaign focused rather than paying for every promotional channel at once. I’d start with a clearly defined audience and test one or two methods, such as targeted social content or playlist pitching, then look at the quality of the traffic generated. Saves, follows, repeat listens, and profile visits can tell you more than a temporary stream spike. Once you know which channel gets useful engagement, you can increase the budget gradually. For another option to compare, check music promo and see which services fit your release.

If you could test only one channel with a small budget, would you choose playlists, social media, or blog outreach? I’m curious which gives clearer feedback.

I’d probably test one focused channel first and measure the response. The goal would be learning what attracts the right listeners, not simply getting the biggest numbers.
