Often I feel stressed about this stuff of fluid control… Anyone feeling the same? How do you “fight” this difficulty?

What’s so stressful about it? Just check your pee that it has a nice colour and don’t drink excessively

Yeah, something similar. I’m not alone! xD
Matt, for you was it easy to reduce fluids?

Sometimes it easier, but during stress time my need of drinking is enormous!

It’s normal to feel thirsty when the stress system is active. It’s also normal to have excessive thirst when metabolic rate is low. But it really helps to stabilize the system to drink according to urine concentration more so than thirst cues to drink…

?Along with the increased water consumption, starving persons tend to have a marked salt hunger and will consume several times the normal quota of salt if it is available. ~Ancel Keys; Biology of Human Starvation

I am so thirsty too and I really worry about drinking too much. I stopped dieting (mostly Paleo) in February but really began eating lots more in May. My period finally returned in June and now I’ve been really watching my fluid intake because I noticed that while I was eating loads more my temp was still low. For the past 3 days I’ve been so thirsty and dreaming of drinking loads and loads of water (or at least just a large glass or more than a tiny sip). Since my temps are still low I’m just drinking stuff with calories in it but am worried about that as my urine is light colored pretty much all the time.

So Matt, if you temps are around 97-98.5 how much fluid is too much? One to two sips of something? 1/4 cup? What about milkshakes with ice cream and raw whole milk? And what about alcohol?! Thanks!

One thing that I think is useful is to only drink a little at a time. Instead of gulping down one large glass of water it’s better to drink it during the duration of a whole hour or so.
If I drink to much to quickly it just goes right through me.

Thanks, Jussi! I have been just taking sips of things when I’m thirsty and I guess that’s working (combined with the S eating style) and I got my first 99.0 reading today after lunch!

Sometimes I find easier to control my fluid intake, I don’t suffer this thing, but in other moment I feel very bad, and desperate and I can’t avoid to drink as I desire…

i went through this same thing as well, and can only say that micromanaging it made it worse for me. the more free time I had to devote to thinking about it, the more I was aware of how it might be negatively impacting my goals. we all come from some weird place of dietary perfectionism here, so I would say the best thing you can do is not worry so much about how much your drinking. don’t force the process, give yourself time, eat as much as you want but don’t force-feed yourself. gradually your drinking will self regulate. its like when you start focusing on your breathing and then you can’t stop, to the extent that you interrupt your normal breathing patterns.

Matt, I’m also curious about alcohol intake when trying to raise metabolism and body temperature. I like to drink (beers, mixed drinks) about once a week.

I feel you Patch. I don’t think about it, but by the end of the day I am absolutely CRAVING a huge sugary drink. In years past, about 2 or 3 times a year I would absolutely HAVE to have a big glass of orange juice. I have no idea why. Now that I’m refeeding, I find that I am having similar cravings. I hardly have an appetite at all, I don’t really even want to eat, but I would kill for a tall glass of juice!!
