I was doing perfectly–eating well, feeling warm, getting sun and sleep, and having energy. I even woke up one morning ALREADY at 98.4 degrees. That was amazing.

    THEN my period started.

I have fought each day of this period to get up to 98.6 and today I have been up for 2 and a half hours and am still only at 97.6 even after cereal with milk, Oreos, and doughnuts. WTH????

I have no energy, am ill-tempered, and cold.

    Ideas? Anyone else experience this?

That’s normal. Temperature rises 0.5 or more after ovulation and drops down again when the period starts. I’m not sure what Matt would say. But you need to be prepared for a shift at those times in your cycle. Also know that right on ovulation will be a couple of very low basal temperatures. Also normal.

Thanks, Christinam…that’s reassuring. I really hope this won’t be THIS bad each time. I can’t do anything, I’m so weak. :-(

Christinam is right, I am just reading the book “Taking Charge of Your Fertility” by Toni Weschler and she explains so clearly why the shift in temperature happens after ovulation. It is actually pretty cool to chart my temperature now applying both Matt’s and Toni’s principles for metabolism and fertility, respectively
