Here’s the thing – a few yrs ago I was on a lowfat, low cholesterol diet. (My dr wanted me on statins which I refused & suggested this diet.) I’ve mentioned this many many times so apologized if you’ve read all this before. Anyway, lost a ton of weight, then read nourishing traditions and transitioned to that way of eating. What I can afford organic, clean, cooking from scratch. Since I have been eating wap I have gained all my weight back. I gained a lot of it from doing EFH but it was coming on anyway. Everyone else who does wap loses the weight but I put it all back on! WHY WHY WHY?? Also I know Matt isn’t that keen on wap. I am confused why eating processed gmo crap food is ok for health and wap isn’t.

WAP is Weston A. Price. They promote eating a traditional diet– kind of similar to paleo (homecooked meals, no processed stuff)… but they do allow raw dairy and properly fermented grains (to make them digestible). Also, they typically allow more sugars than paleo.

People don’t always lose weight on the WAP diet. I have just realized that I have had troubles with my health the past couple of years, and it has been since my financial situation changed. I have been trying to stick to the WAP diet, but I have been eating a lot less food/calories these past couple of years, because I have been trying to stick to organic, grass fed, etc. which meant that I can’t buy as much food as I used to buy. I am now starting to make a lot of compromises with the quality of my food in order to make sure I get ENOUGH of it, and I am already starting to feel better after only a week. I feel like I would be the healthiest on a higher calorie WAP diet, but I have decided to prioritize calories since I can’t afford enough of all the ideal foods.
