I’m wondering if having smaller portions 5x per day but dense foods and less liquids would do the trick. To me, it seems, that large meals are, what makes me feel lethargic and gain weight.

    You’ve got a good point.
I’ve heard Giada say that she eats a little of everything and not a lot of anything. She only eats about 2 fists of food at every meal. I’m slim when I do that, too. But I don’t know if say eating 5 small meals of very dense foods and much reduced liquids would get the job done of fixing the metabolism. It seems that large portions are called for on this program.
Maybe I have to see if I can keep my temp. up doing that. Hm wouldn’t it be great to know and not have to go through trial and error so much.?

I asked Matt the other day why there are fat people like Honey Boo Boo type families. They don’t seem to ever starve themselves. He said that people are born with certain genetic issues and they also probably eat lots of PUFAs which suppresses the metabolism. It’s true that they eat lots of packaged foods like potato chips that are fried in vegetable oil etc.
I wish there was more proof of this! It seems scary to go in the direction of an endless weight gain.

I didn’t use any supplements with eat for heat. But I tell you, I tried everything in the past to get rid of the candida. Nothing worked and I just spent loads of money. I’m over supplements for the most part.
Coming off of a low carb diet you are bound to gain weight as you introduce carbs. I was so tiny when on low carb. A US size 4 at 5’9″. Then I was still restricting with more carbs and eating about 1500 kcal at a size 6 but still unhealthy. Now I’m between size 8 and 12 eating everything I want. And I believe that that’s my upper limit due to genetics and history. Of course I’d rather be small. But what is it worth if I’m sick, binge prone and moody. I do hope that some of the weight will come off after a year or two once my body has recovered.

Thank you for your input. I noticed the last couple of days that I seem to tolerate dairy better and am hopeful that I already am over the hill.
I guess I’m taking the push through it approach

Isn’t h. pylori a kind of yeast that can grow in the body?
I used to have candida in my gut which went away after starting eat for heat and getting my temperatures up. The test back then said that I had no good bacteria and candida overgrowth. I barely ate carbs back then, drank lots of water, ate fruit, the anti eat for heat program /:
Have your temperatures come up yet?

I was diagnosed with candida in my digestive tract. I had it while on a low carb diet. When I started to eat more it didn’t go away immediately but I haven’t suffered any of the symptoms in many months, maybe even a year. I eat lots of carbs, sugar..now and feel much better. You might need to go through an initial readjustment. And I had binges 1-2x per month when on low carb. I thought I might be eating disordered. Now I believe that restricting was the eating disorder.

It seems like most people are able to get their temperatures up within 1-3 months if they properly implement warming foods and low water intake. I had low temperatures after lots of dieting like low carb and skipping dinners and so on. I would sometimes be as low as 96.8 in the morning. My thyroid hormones tested slightly low at the time. But I’m all the way up again through food. I think you might be the rare case that needs thyroid support.
Never mind not getting tested before. We all make mistakes esp. at your young age.

Matt said that Honey bbs family probably eats loads of PUFAs. Makes sense. I should have thought of that myself. I mean they eat all these packaged foods like chips and greasy treats that are full of canola oil etc.. It’s easy to throw eat for heat into one basket with a junk food diet. After all Matt recommends junk foods to a certain extend. But when you look at the details, you cannot go to the store and just buy any packaged item. The only thing I was buying that had sunflower oil was tortilla chips and he even said it would be great if I would make them myself with coconut oil, esp. if I eat them a lot. He also stresses not to become obsessed and to go out and eat whatever you like. But I must say, if Pufas have such bad effects, I will find the items on the menu with the lowest levels. But if i only eat out infrequently, I guess, it’s of no importance.

Wow, I’m so sorry for your situation and hope this gets sorted out soon. Sounds like you need to get some check ups and then maybe work with Matt one on one. Best of luck!

I have been eating past my hunger signs. Sometimes I’m cold and not hungry at all. So I make myself eat to warm up.
I tried to google june shannon diet history- honey bb’s mom and didn’t find much on a yoyo diet past. I would much prefer to eat when I’m hungry instead of eating large meals but that would not amount to that much food. I am really only hungry say 5x per day and eat between 1 and 3 fists. That’s not really eat for heat style in my mind.
I wish Matt would take the time and answer this one.

Matt told me to try and push through it. I hope it works and I’m fine in a couple of weeks!!
I have a lot of noise and judgements in my head about foods like white bread, sugar, cream?being foods that people eat who end up looking like honey boo boo’s family. They are heavy and don’t seem like they would ever go on a diet. How come their metabolism isn’t top notch?

That makes sense. I guess Matt takes it home, while Jon plays it safe. It’s not easy telling people that they will gain 30 lbs and keep in on for a year before they will gradually start losing lol

I’ve found some french rye sourdough and spelt toast at my health food store that only has flower, and salt as ingredients. And it’s not white bread and it doesn’t have any seeds in it. That must be fine, right?
