If you google recipes for gatorade (or pedialyte, any electrolyte replacement drink) you’ll find a bunch!

The only European country I’ve been to is Germany, and I think it’s beautiful there – friendly people and great food! I would love to see more of Europe. I haven’t been to NYC (I live in Michigan) but Chicago is fun if you like big cities. I’ve also been to Florida a few times, we went to the Kennedy Space Center. We’re not big into Disney stuff but I’m sure the next time we go, we’ll be taking the kids to a few of the Disney parks.

That sounds great! Remember there are always tour groups, unless you like to make your own plans! Plenty of people travel alone, where would you like to go?

YarnJess, I just wanted to say that I knit obsessively! I love the nic :)

Mighty M, those temps seem to be pretty close to mine – although I hit the low 99’s post-o. That’s recent though, before this cycle, I was usually in the low to mid 98’s. It sounds like you’re on the right track. I have a snack at bedtime every night too, if I don’t, I will wake up at 4 am for the day :(.

Lack of sleep will crash out a lot of us… that’s happened to me too, if I don’t sleep well it doesn’t seem to matter what I eat, I am just cold. You mentioned your temp being cooler at 10 pm, that’s pretty normal, from what I understand our temps take a dip around that time to ready us for sleep.

Enjoy that chocolate milk – use whole milk and put a splash of heavy cream in it.. yum!

What are your interests? I’d pick one that makes you ridiculously happy and pursue the hell out of it!

I’d like to encourage you to be patient and keep eating for heat… it will take a while for those morning temps to come up. Second half of my cycle I’m running in the 99’s now! I’ve been at this for about 5 months now and I also think it depends on how long you restricted and how severely.

I added a lot of fat to my diet, that seemed to do it for me. I’ve backed off from that a bit as I just don’t crave those things so much now, but for a while there I was going through heavy cream, butter and coconut oil like crazy.

That’s a good question! First, my temperature has stabilized, I’m around 98 during the first half of my cycle and near or above 99 for the second half. My appetite has stabilized, I actually get hungry at regular times now and have bypassed that wanting to eat my arm stage. I have gained weight but that seems to have stabilized. My sleep, moods and digestion have been decent for a while.

I started this whole process at the end of February this year so it hasn’t quite been 6 months. I’d say my temp and stuff have been stable for about a month, possibly slightly longer. I started feeling better before that, but didn’t see the temps above 99 consistently until this past month.

I didn’t think to make it with yogurt! Interesting. Did you do it in the blender?

Wow Rob thanks!!! That will save me a bundle, I go through the little pint jars so quickly! Spectrum and Tropical Traditions are two brands that I’ve used as well, both of them make the refined kind. My local grocery sells a brand called LouAnna, which I’m certain is not organic, and it comes in a bigger container than the Spectrum.

I too had issues with the virgin coconut oil, the flavor doesn’t bother me but it had a very low smoking point and I couldn’t even cook eggs in it. Now it’s sitting in my bathroom and I use it when my skin is dry.

I tried low carb for very short periods of time (probably no longer than a month) and I stopped it because it created carb cravings and sugar cravings where there were none before. I felt really bad on it, was constantly drinking, was constipated, just felt horrible. All of them ended in me making a batch of cake frosting just to eat!!! Then by a massive starchy foods binge.

I can’t imagine running while eating a low carb diet. I used to run 6-9 miles per week, not much compared to you but I felt bad enough not fueling myself properly (or getting enough rest) and I can’t even begin to imagine how bad I would have felt eating low carb and trying to run.

I’ve always had good teeth but for several years I had a couple of spots on my gums that were red, inflamed and it hurt to floss there. I see the dentist every 6 months and they couldn’t find anything wrong otherwise and just told me to keep taking care of it. Even daily flossing didn’t make it go away!

Now the inflamed areas are gone. Just spontaneously gone. I realized I hadn’t flossed for a while so I decided to do it and was so used to it hurting there and me needing to be extra careful. Suddenly it doesn’t anymore.

My teeth have also gotten whiter. I don’t use any tooth whitening products, I’m cheap so I don’t use any fancy expensive toothpastes either.

You bet my moods are better – WAY better! I’m able to let things slide off my back now more easily than I did before. I don’t even have PMS. If I’m cranky it’s usually because I slept poorly, but even that has improved greatly… if I don’t sleep I can usually figure out why pretty quickly.

At two months I wasn’t there yet. I often felt like a car trying to start… it took a while, and I put on weight, but I feel so much better now, it was worth the struggle!

I’ve been healing my metabolism since February 2013, so I’ve had a fair bit of time to work at it. I started off by eating whenever my fingers or toes felt cold, because I’d broken my hunger signals after 30+ years of restriction of one kind or another. At first I cut my fluid intake to a small fraction of what I was drinking before. I’m finding that I need more fluids now, so I drink accordingly. I do not fear the saturated fats and I consume a lot of full fat dairy products on a daily basis, along with coconut oil. I don’t fear the sugar or starch either. I do actually get hungry again which is good, and I’ve had quite a few other issues resolve almost completely. I’m coming from a background of fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome so this is huge for me… I have a little more energy as each week passes.

I do eat veggies and other “healthy” foods but I don’t worry about them so much anymore. I feel better now than I have eating any number of vegetables, salads, fruit/veg smoothies, low fat/low carb/low calorie whatever.

I ate when cold, that’s probably the biggest thing I did.. because I honestly never felt hungry. I’d go from feeling nothing to feeling sick, and by that time I had waited too long. Now I’m nice and toasty and actually had a little trouble during a heat wave a couple of weeks ago, when I hadn’t had enough fluids, that was pretty miserable and it took quite a few days of pounding the water to feel better.

I weigh around 245 right now and on more active days I need around 3000 calories to support my metabolism and increased activity. So eating to feed that fire has really helped me feel a lot better, and warmer :)
