Mighty M, that is classic adrenaline type of stuff. Your cortisol might be too high at night. Look at Ashwaganda, that’s a very good herb for regulating your cortisol, and helping you calm down. I’m also a fan of marijuana, but some people don’t like to try it.
I’ve really trained myself over a number of years as to indicators of weather I’m retaining minerals.
1. Dry lips, if you’re eating probably and still dehydrated.
2. Frequent urination
3. Muscle cramping in my calves from imbalanced minerals
4. Cravings for specific mineral rich foods like, ice cream(calcium/potassium), pizza(sodium, potassium), chocolate(magnesium),etc.
Research an adrenal hormone called “aldosterone”. Once I learned about this it gave me a lot more insight into my frequent urination. I can tell how my adrenals are doing by how much I’m urinating, unrelated to diet. I notice if I’m somewhat stressed before I go to bed I will wake up to use the bathroom. Of course foods play a major role as well. Reduction in carbs, and excessive protein consumption are big diuretics.
I did a Paleo diet for about 5 years. About 2 of those years was very low carb. I did it initially to cure my acne. I found that low carb seemed to be the most effective way to control my insulin, which was the main culprit of my inflammatory skin ailments. I had already had adrenal fatigue from my lifestyle choices, and going low carb Paleo only made it worse. I didn’t have a menstrual cycle for almost 6 years. I followed the diet too rigorously, and my health suffered because of it. I do still believe in some sort of dietary manipulation in order to fight inflammation, but you have to be flexible with your choices. More does not equal better.
Yeah I have low blood pressure. It’s kind of a catch 22. If I don’t eat a lot of refined carbs I have a hard time retaining my minerals, but all the refined carbs just make me want to eat more, like an addict. I believe it’s due to shitty adrenals. Had a stressful life? Who hasn’t, but for a lot of us it seems to really affect our adrenal function. You can try and take supps to help with adrenal function, and mineral retention. Licorice Root is very helpful in that department.
I did 5 years of low carb/paleo. I actually lost my period for 6 months prior to that due to stress and under eating, and it didn’t return once I started the low carb. All in all I was missing my period for almost 6 years. I tried all sorts of pills, and hormone creams. It didn’t return until I started eating straight up junk food. I’ve had it consistently for about a year. Not quite healthy though as I have very bad cramps due to eating this kind of food and the inflammation. Be careful though, because eating junk food is real appealing, and once you make it habit it is hard to stop. I picked up a junk food habit just like I picked up an eating disorder, smoking cigarettes, and drinking. Trying to regulate myself is seemingly just as hard as it was when I had an eating disorder.
Interesting. I doubt it’s the magnesium. If I were to guess I would imagine it’s inflammation due to high levels of cortisol. Pre-climax is when we get a surge of adrenaline in our system, and I’m guessing it might be too much inflammation for your body to take. I would imagine try playing around with anti-inflammatories, or supps to get your cortisol down. I’m assuming this is happening at night? What if you have the orgasm in the morning?
I think it’s interesting all the negative backlash she’s getting. The woman is in her 40’s, and has been around the block. I don’t see a problem with what she’s doing. She is older and wiser, and I’m sure if she starts to have negative symptoms popping up, she is smart enough to understand why, and adjust her diet accordingly. We’re constantly evolving, but boy does it make it harder when you put it on a blog for everyone to see.
Same thing happened to me years ago. It’s now a rather regular annoyance. Mine is on the left side, and is related to constipation. If I don’t eat enough fiber and fat, or I eat too much protein it’s problematic.
